What
our students say about Aikido:
"Aikido
has changed my life. My training has been a personal journey for
me into the core of my being. It has helped me to 'find myself'
by forging my spirit and increasing my mental focus. But for me,
it is much more than that. Aikido is a very practical and powerful
martial art and a very effective means of self defense. As a twelve
year veteran of a busy city police department, I have had cause
to use aikido in a very direct and realistic manner. I have to
'hands on' with people on a daily basis and, as a result, I have
faced dangerous situations on the street where I have had to use
aikido in it's rawest form. Even though the techniques used were
not always perfectly executed due to imperfect circumstances,
the basic movements and instant responses to my adversary's attacks
were there and my response came automatically and without pausing
to think. In more compliant situations, such as just restraining
or immobilizing a suspect to handcuff them, aikido has proven
to be highly effective when just applying a basic wrist lock or
joint lock. I am grateful for aikido and for the knowledge and
any skills I have obtained from my training. I think that aikido
could benefit anyone, but is especially useful and beneficial
for any law enforcement officer."

"I
find that Aikido is a great workout and an excellent way to reduce
stress. When I'm training I become focused on the task at hand
and the stresses of the day dissolve. When the training is over
I feel stress free and centered."
-Ted

"Aikido
helps me train both my mind and body together, to become more
flexible and supple. As an adult beginner that has never practiced
a martial art before, I find everyone at the dojo very helpful
and supportive....It's a lot of fun, too!"

"Aikido
is my tool to become a better person in this world of competition
and individualism. It allows me to relax in stressful times, and
of course meet wonderful people."
-Amnon
H., 3rd kyu, Biomedical Graduate Student(amnon_he@yahoo.com)
"It's
just a really cool martial art with so many things to explore
and practice... The people who practice Aikido are just the most
pleasant people you can meet... It keeps me sane... It is allowing
me to be more flexible (body and mind)."
